April: One Roll, One Day // Film Photography Project

Another month, another installment of my One Roll, One Day film photography project. This month I decided to shoot my project roll on Easter Sunday. Being that we live far from family, we don’t typically do anything crazy or egg-stravagant (ha) for Easter. Also, with the shelter-in-place orders right now, this year was no exception to that. It wasn’t that different from a normal Sunday for us, aside from a few Easter basket goodies, a little egg hunt and some egg dyeing. We also worked on some house projects, we had facetime calls with some family members, and we relaxed, all as usual.

The forecast called for a chance of rain. Therefore, the kids’ baskets and eggs got hidden inside the house. We enjoyed opening the baskets of goodies in bed, and the kids delivered Lenna’s to her in her crib when she woke up. It was a sweet little moment of the day. Then we hunted eggs around the house, which were mostly full of balloons. Who else has kids that love balloons and will play with them for hours? The kids’ easter baskets were all nature themed, and kept us busy most of the day! We planted Celia’s flower pot, played a bug-catching game, made lego flowers. Afterwards we went outside and looked at roly-polies up close with a new magnifying glass. Reading new books about seasons and bugs was also time well spent.

I had not planned on dyeing eggs, but decided last minute to give it a try with what we had: brown eggs, food coloring and vinegar. I was skeptical of how well it would work, but we love how they turned out! Then, we made deviled eggs with them for dinner!

Now that I write it all out, it seems like we had a pretty busy day, but it didn’t feel rushed or stressful. It was just the right amount of special and relaxed.

I have a group of friends also participating in this One Roll, One Day film photography project! Click here to follow our blog circle, starting with Jennifer!

  1. What killer light you have in your house! And the P400+1 looks fantastic – moody yet soft colors. Great stuff as usual Jolene.
